DA-Group Multiplies Its Electronics Manufacturing Capability with a New SMT Production Line

Domestic electronics manufacturing is being strengthened through a major investment. DA-Group has invested in a new, exceptionally robust SMT production line. This state-of-the-art system multiplies manufacturing capacity and enables an even more precise and consistent component placement process.

DA-Group has invested in a new SMT assembly line that strengthens the Group’s electronics manufacturing capability, expands production capacity, and improves quality control. This represents a significant investment in electronics manufacturing in Finland: a complete SMT/SMD production line that integrates multiple stages of production, inspection, quality assurance, and traceability.

From Prototypes to Volume Production: An Intelligent Line for Assembly and Inspection

The assembly line is used to manufacture printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), where electronic components are placed and soldered onto circuit boards. The production process begins with PCB loading and proceeds through solder paste printing and inspection, automated component placement, soldering, and automated optical inspection of finished assemblies. The line will be used in the manufacture of DA-Group’s electronics products and printed circuit board assemblies. It supports both prototype manufacturing and volume production, strengthening the Group’s ability to produce technically demanding, high-reliability products in its own facilities in Finland. At the same time, inspection and monitoring capabilities improve throughout the production chain.

What Benefits Does This Investment Bring to Customers?

The new assembly line increases manufacturing capacity, improves production throughput, and enables the production of even more demanding electronic assemblies. For customers, this translates into improved delivery reliability, higher and more consistent quality, and a smoother transition from prototyping to volume production.

Automated inspection stages help identify potential deviations already during manufacturing, reducing the need for rework, improving process control, and strengthening traceability throughout the entire production chain. Domestic manufacturing and a European supply chain are particularly beneficial for customers whose products require high reliability, long service life, and a controlled manufacturing environment.

Technical Highlights

The new SMT assembly line includes, among other equipment, nitrogen storage cabinets for dry component storage, a solder paste printer, solder paste inspection system, three SIPLACE SX1 placement machines, a reflow oven, an automated optical inspection system, and the possibility to use a vapor phase soldering process alongside or as an alternative to the reflow process, as well as nitrogen supply for both the reflow and vapor phase ovens. The production process is planned to be complemented later this year with a selective soldering process.
